  JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is looking for a APAC Legal & Compliance Counsel (Based in KL)  to join their esteemed organization. If you are a dynamic individual looking for a career opportunity, read on further!

The role primarily has responsibility for providing support on legal and compliance matters of the Engineering business across APAC region. The job holder will work with the APAC Legal & Compliance team to ensure that APAC region manage contractual, legal, compliance and business risks appropriately and in accordance with applicable law and company policy.

The responsibilities of the incumbent would be:
  • Draft, review and negotiate various agreements, contracts and other legal documentation across South East Asia & Pacific countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) and other APAC countries (like Korea and Japan), typically including sales, procurement contracts, etc;
  • Implement Anti-bribery and Compliance programs like Know Your Customer Review procedure, Third-Party Due Diligence procedure, Third-party Agreements and agent management across South East Asia Pacific countries;
  • Advise legal aspects of the day-to-day business operations including corporate and commercial, regulatory matters, etc
  • Provide legal support to other functional teams such as HR, Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chian, Marketing, Technical, etc;
  • Handle company litigation, arbitration and other disputes settlement matters;
  • Conduct other ad-hoc APAC project(s) when assigned.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Bachelor of Laws or above;
  • Admission to the bar/ law society in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand or UK;
  • Good sense of responsibility;
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills, able to work independently and resourceful;
  • No less than 8 years in-house in MNCs or law firms
  • Oil & Gas and/or Petrochemical and/or Power industry is a plus;
  • Working experience in APAC or global business environment is a plus;
  • Fluent in Korean or Japanese is a plus.  
  • Solid legal knowledge
  • Strong in both oral and written English
  • Team Work and self-motivated
