  JOB DESCRIPTION Our client, a tertiary education institute, is currently looking for a Lead Professional Officer, Maintenance (Marine Engineering) to join their esteemed organisation!

The Lead Professional Officer acts as a first line mentor to students on practical activities such as laboratory classes, student projects and Integrated Work Study Program (IWSP) to enhance the students’ technical problem-solving skills and increase their preparedness for the industry.
Work with the faculty in the developing, designing and planning of laboratory facilities designated for teaching and research activities in the area. Provide training to students on the use of laboratory equipment.
  • Work with and guide students on projects and laboratory activities to enhance their practical problem-solving skills.
    • This may involve conduct of relevant practical activities as well as supervision of students in their projects and laboratory assignments as a part of applied learning.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Support the faculty in the supervision and assessment of students’ assignments, e.g., research projects, design projects and Final Year Projects.Support the faculty in the supervision and assessment of students’ assignments, e.g., research projects, design projects and Final Year Projects.
  • Support research and industrial project work were undertaken by the university.
  • Support the faculty in the execution of the Integrated Work Study Program (IWSP).
  • Mentor students during practical laboratory classes and projects to enhance their technical problem-solving skills.
    • This may involve conduct of relevant practical activities as well as supervision of students in their laboratory assignments and projects as part of applied learning.
    • Assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities.

If you possess the following qualities, look no further, apply now! 
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of maintenance management, processes and techniques.
  • Prior work experience in the Marine systems/transportation systems
  • Prior experience with local accident & incident investigation will be an added advantage.
  • Preferably with at least 15 years of work experience in maintenance engineering.  
  • Have a minimum degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
