Our client is actively searching for a Senior Manager or Assistant Director, Ops - Surgery (Strategic Programmes) to join their team!

You will provide strategic leadership and oversight for key initiatives aligned to cluster-level and hospital-wide priorities. The role focuses on translating strategic intent into coherent programmes of work, ensuring alignment across clinical and operational domains and driving the works to achieve set targets. You will steward the end-to-end progression of major initiatives – from conceptualisation to implementation. You will be responsible for integrating diverse stakeholder perspectives, coordinating across workstreams, and ensuring that initiatives maintain continuity and enable impactful, system-level outcomes.
The responsibilities of this role are:
Strategic Oversight & Programme Coordination
Lead and support hospital and cluster-level strategic initiatives in alignment with national, cluster and institutional priorities.
Establish and maintain governance structures, ensuring clarity in planning, decision-making and issue escalation.
Drive end-to-end project management, including scope definition, workplan development, milestone tracking and risk management.
Planning, Analysis & Decision Support
Develop business cases and workload projections to support project justification and strategic planning.
Prepare submissions for approvals and funding, ensuring recommendations are data-driven and aligned with strategic intent.
Conduct data quality reviews and perform analyses to validate assumptions, surface trends and identify areas requiring follow-up.
Implementation & Execution Management
Manage the full project lifecycle, including procurement processes, stakeholder coordination, vendor management, and adherence to timeline and budget.
Oversee development of dashboards and reports that provide insights into operational performance and project outcomes.
Provide regular updates to Senior Management and cluster stakeholders on progress, risks and key decisions required.
Cross-Functional & Cluster Collaboration
Collaborate with internal and cluster-level clinical and non-clinical teams to harmonise workflows and ensure alignment across initiatives.
Facilitate discussions to resolve issues, align priorities and build shared understanding across stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
Good Bachelor's degree in any discipline, with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare administration.
Prior experience in hospital clinical operations or healthcare administration is advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong command of written and spoken English, with effective interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Strong numerical proficiency and ability to translate data into insights.
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, meticulous, and committed to seeing initiatives through from planning to execution.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
