The Assistant Director support the Project Director in shaping and delivering University's campus development strategy through the planning, execution, and continuous enhancement of campus infrastructure and facilities. This role will lead multidisciplinary project teams, optimise resources, manage risks, and drive innovation to ensure successful project outcomes. With a focus on both new campus development initiatives and enhancement of existing infrastructure, this position will build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, lead change initiatives, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and in compliance with relevant regulations.The responsibilities of this role are: Campus Planning & Development
Lead feasibility studies and strategic assessments to support future campus development initiatives.
Establish and implement a unified estate planning framework and requirements across the University to ensure consistency, operational effectiveness, and alignment with stakeholders needs, including divisions and clusters.
Establish a coherent, future?ready campus development strategy so that University’s land use, infrastructure planning, and estate standards are consistently aligned with long?term institutional needs and implemented uniformly across the University.
Project Delivery & Cost Management
Manage projects timeline for new projects and campus enhancement.
Schedule, monitor and control projects timeline to meet research project and teaching needs.
Oversee the scope, design, implementation and quality management of fit-out works, infrastructure development, and addition & alteration (A&A) works to ensure delivery of high-quality projects that meet users and operational requirements.
Manage the procurement of professional services and contracts required for the delivery of fit-outs and A&A works.
Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring cost control and delivery within approved financial parameters.
Stakeholder Management
Align expectations with faculties, divisions, and space custodians.
Build and maintain good relationships with consultants, vendors, and government agencies to support project delivery.
Provide clear, timely reporting on project progress, risks, costs, and decisions.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
Degree in Architecture, Civil and Structure Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in public sector, developer organisations or consulting firms as a Qualified Person (QP), or at least 15 years of relevant experience in public sector, developer organisations or consulting firms
Strong knowledge of public sector procurement framework and regulatory requirements
Good writing, communication and presentation skills
Meticulous and capable of working independently to resolve issues and challenges effectively
Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and positive working attitude.
Good time management
Proven leadership capabilities and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
